Multizone AV systems

Whole home music or multizone audio has become very popular over the last few years. Multizone audio is a system that allows music to be played in different areas of the home independently. A multizone system can form part of a home theatre system or can be independent.
Zones can be indoors or outdoors and most systems are expandable. Each "zone" can have it's own source and volume allowing the same source or different sources to be to be listened to in each zone at different levels.
Most families have a collection of music that they like to listen to from time to time. A multizone audio system can have almost anything as a source including a record player, Tape deck, CD Player, Ipod or Radio.

Audio and Video distribution

Most Multizone systems have at least one video zone. This often is a home theatre or family room TV. Adding a Receiver (a decoding amplifier) will allow video switching to one or more zones.
The addition of a video switcher allows reliable switching of the video signal to be routed to multiple screens in a similar way as the audio switcher does with the audio. This allows a combination of Audio only and Audio/Video (AV) zones.
Imagine being able to watch TV (any source) in any room in High definition.
